This is one of those projects that I thought up and got stupid-excited to make. I think that happens more often than not when you’re sent a product to try out, and it’s sort of something out of the blue, and you just kind of come up with a project around that product.

The way-cool Amy from Mod Podge Rocks has a new line of sticky stencils that are really pretty wonderful- I’m a little embarrassed that I couldn’t decide on which I wanted to try, so I requested 2 styles. Just call me Miss Greedy-Pants.

I ended up using the Tangier style for this project. Have you ever even USED sticky stencils? They’re freaking amazing. They STICK! This feature (and of course the cool patterns) made me fall instantly in love with these stencils.

Want the details? Okay.

1. Buy yourself a stool. I had one from Target that I bought a few years ago. I found these stools on Amazon that are similar if you’re in love with this style.

2. Lightly sand the top of the stool to aid in paint-stickage.

3. Paint 3 coats of chalkboard paint on the top, letting dry in between coats.

4. Hold onto your hats, because this is the fun part! Take your stencil and starting at one side, stencil your way across the circle (let the paint dry between stenciling!) I used the Plaid spouncer I got with the stencils, and they’re great- I’ve used them before. Your paint might look a little bubbly as you spounce, but it will dry flat.

5. Go back in with the stencil to finish up the edges.

Please be patient here and let the paint dry between stenciling. Otherwise, it will look horrific.

6. Once it’s all dry, slather on 2 coats of Mod Podge, letting dry in between coats.

7. Sit on it and eat more chocolate.

Thanks Elle! I haven’t actually done a ton of DIY, so it was a blast to make.
